Digital Health Program

The RECOVER Digital Health Program helps researchers learn more about how participants’ health is similar to, or different, from other people in RECOVER. Participants can use a wearable device, like a Fitbit, and have the option to share other information, like their electronic health record (EHR). An EHR is a digital medical chart that has health data like doctor visits, lab results, and other health history. Joining the program is optional, so participants can choose to take part or not.

All participants in the Digital Health Program can order a free Fitbit (or connect their own wearable device, such as an Apple Watch or Garmin smartwatch) to share digital health data with the RECOVER team.

The Fitbit collects and shares data to the RECOVER app, MyDataHelps, like:

Heart rate
Activity
Oxygen levels
Sleep

How do I join the Digital Health Program?

If you’re a participant in RECOVER’s cohort studies and want to join the Digital Health Program, it’s easy! This is all you need to do:

Tell your study team that you want to join the RECOVER Digital Health Program—they will let you know if it's available at your site.
Or, the next time you’re completing a follow-up survey, look for an invitation before submitting your form.

Who is eligible for the Digital Health Program?

All RECOVER adult study participants are eligible to join the RECOVER Digital Health Program. Some pediatric study participants who are 13 years old or older may be asked to join.
